Aston Villa manager Unai Emery revealed he enjoyed his team’s win at Leipzig and is targeting a top-eight finish in this year’s UEFA Champions League.

Emery led the team to collect another 3 important points by defeating RB Leipzig 3-2, increasing the number of points to 13 from 6 matches, which is in a very good position to automatically qualify.

“I try to enjoy it and we always want to improve, which is sometimes difficult, but today the team played well with intensity and I enjoyed it very much,” Emery said after the game.

“We’re trying to overcome the mistakes we made. We’re playing more or less consistently. There was one mistake and they scored, but then we played very well.”

“The Champions League is tough and we expect every team playing at home to feel motivated, but we played with consistency and controlled the game.”

As for the chance to qualify, Emery said: “Today we only think about winning to be in the last two games and to be in the top eight. We won today UFABET and we will try to finish in the top eight.”

On going for the win rather than a draw: “The last 10 minutes you have to be positive and try and use the players you have and the subs to try and get the victory.”

On a potential top-eight finish: “Today we were thinking if we won we could be a contender in the last two matches to be in the top eight. We achieved this option and we are going to try and get top eight. We are happy because we are in the top-24.”
